Elite Development for Growth in Education and Sports (EDGES) Academy started as an idea to bring back ‘old-school’ values into education. Feeling constrained by the public school system, EDGES founder and Director, Tom Carnovale decided to take a leap of faith and leave his 20 year teaching position to open up a school with a focus on sports and timeless values in the heart of Toronto. Combining his passion and love for sports, coaching, and teaching – EDGES was born.
Tom has 20 years of experience in the public school system in Toronto as a classroom and physical education teacher. In his tenure as a teacher, his accomplishments are vast. While winning was never the only focus, he had many successful seasons as a coach in football, basketball, badminton, track and field, hockey, and ultimate frisbee taking many of these teams to their ultimate goal of winning championships. Tom realized the important role that sports played to teach, motivate, and instill values such as discipline, teamwork, leadership, and risk-taking.
In addition to a successful career with The Toronto District School Board, Tom has coached hockey for over 20 years at various levels including Jr. A and AAA.

Every great journey begins with a story. Ours is no different. Established in 2024, we embarked on a mission to provide high-quality education and athletics under one roof. With the support and help of a team of educators, experienced coaches, and mentors, EDGES will open its doors in September 2024 when our mission will become a reality.
